ART Thursday in Obs - The second Thursday of the month. Look out for posters showing where local artists will be displaying.

Boulders Beach Penguins

Hop on the train and make your way to Simon’s Town – home to South Africa’s navy and the far more cute African Penguin. Stop off at the Kalk bay harbour for some fresh fish, and to watch REAL fish wives “goeing die taal” (throwing the language around) while lazy seals get fat on titbits. for a bite to eat, the Brass bell pub and Olympia Cafe on the way back home – you’re in for a treat!

Visit the Market

One of our alltime favourites, the Old biscuit Mill Saturday market. Stroll there from the Hostel, and taste the best of our local farmer’s fresh produce, lgood old craft beerocal vintage designers and the best margeritas to cure that hangover!  time: 09:00 – 14:00, 373 Albert Hall Road, Woodstock.

South African Astronomical Observatory

The reason this area is called Observatory is because the headquarters of the National Centre for Optical and Infrared Astronomy is based in this suburb. Every second and fourth Saturday of the month at 8pm you are welcome to have a peek. The headquarters include offices, the main library, computing facilities, engineering workshops and historic telescopes. This is your chance to look through the historic McClean telescope and spot that shooting star.
Opening Hours: Mon - Fri: 8:30am - 4:30pm
